Welcome to the Science Yourself BLOG!

As part of our goal to foster discussions about science literacy and critical thinking, the Science Yourself initiative has decided to create a Blog intended to keep active, engaging conversations among members of our local communities. We welcome everyone to share their experiences and perspectives, discuss ideas, listen to each other, and be open to re-evaluate their positions based on facts and solid arguments over opinions.

Starting this upcoming Friday, February 26, 2021, the Science Yourself initiative will publish weekly interviews here in our Blog. Entitled Voices of Local Leaders, this interview series will promote and recognize the efforts of professionals and community members of the greater New Haven area and their local initiatives that value factual information, science literacy and critical thinking as the fundamental base for advancements in education, community engagement, and social transformation.

The interviews focus on the personal journey of these local leaders, their passions, their struggles, their motivations, and their actions to promote science literacy and critical thinking. This series aims to demystify the notion that only scientists should care about science. The Science Yourself initiative hopes that everyone enjoys learning more about these local leaders that are also our neighbors, our friends, our colleagues, and our peers. But, most importantly, we hope it will serve as an invitation for a deeper conversation with those that feel disconnected or skeptical about science in showing how everyone can benefit from a scientific, critical thinking mindset.

Thank you for your interest in science and your support to local science-driven initiatives!
